So, if you have been reading my posts, you may know that I may have messed up with my build.
I think that I ruined my first cast by using latex gloves when I was using Rebound 25, which is a No No.
I attempted to clean it up and I after I looked at it and thought that it was decent enough I thought I would try and go for the casting process.
I made one light detail layer on the clay and let it set. It actually did set sort of, some of it was tacky and some of it was kind of wetish, but not coming off onto my gloves, so I think it was OK.
I then made the thick layer, since I am running out of rebound. I have that shown as well.
The problem is. I am posting this the next day, almost 24 hours since I started and the rubber doesn’t feel completely set yet. I may have to bring it inside and see if the conditions outside are affecting my Rebound.
Essentially I decided to just go for it and try and finish the build and see how it turns out. I don’t really care at this point, I just want to use the stuff and get a feel of the processes.
If I am going to learn something from this, I might as well document it and let everyone else know.
Here are pictures.
This is what helps me get through failing at this… Lol.
This is the thick cast from the side
Thick cast from the top.
He is looking clean
Just showing the brush. Make sure you buy cheap-o brushes!
I decided to go with a different base for the horn… unfortunately I have to build it again.
Thick detail coat. Took about 2 hours to set, but I am not sure if it was totally complete.
If this fails, I am definitely going to do this again, but on another project. For the mask I might just do paper mache for the time being 😦
